My favorite Mediterranean restaurant still exists and I enjoyed some other good eats at Pluto’s, Bella Luna and Il Fornaio. I added a new favorite dish to my list--- the Cappellaci di Zucca at Il Fornaio. It is ravioli filled with butternut squash and walnuts topped with crispy sage and marinara. I had never had sage prepared that way and I loved the texture. Yum!
The program at Stanford was a success and we had some phenomenal speakers who discussed economic development issues in Indian Country. All of our hard work definitely paid off. My co-worker, Sarah and I flew into Stanford the afternoon before and had some time to explore the city. We rode the Cal-train to San Francisco and I enjoyed a delicious bowl of clam chowder at Fisherman’s Wharf:
We also took a boat ride under the Golden Gate Bridge at sunset:
After the Stanford program, I flew to New Hampshire for our program at Dartmouth, which was also very successful:
The next trip I made was to Chicago to visit Northwestern for our final education program. During lunch on one of the days, I walked outside and as I turned a corner, I spotted someone who looked very familiar. We stood starting at each other for some time until he spoke out in Indonesian. What a coincidence to run into Elder Moreno! He recently returned home from his mission and is now a student at Northwestern. We took a walk around the lake and spoke to each other in Indonesian:
After my program in Chicago ended, I flew directly to Houston for my baby sister’s wedding. She looked absolutely stunning. The temple ceremony was very sacred and touching. Congratulations Tiffy and welcome to the family, Patrick! After the wedding, the couple headed off for their honeymoon in Mexico!
After my trip to Houston, I flew to Wisconsin with a special friend. :)
After Wisconsin, I went to Hawaii with my mom. I told you that I’ve been traveling a lot!!! I’ll write about Hawaii in my next blog entry.
Love,
Tashina
