I haven’t been able to motivate myself to blog lately and when I actually want to write, blogger is down for maintenance. Meh. In April, I went home to Denver to visit the fam. Tiffany and Patrick flew in from Texas and Cin’s parents came in from Arizona to celebrate my little brother’s 13th birthday. One of my favorite things about coming home is the soul food. The breakfast of champions: Tamales, green chile, fried potatoes, bacon and eggs.
Grandma and Grandpa hauled up some fresh mutton from the rez:
My dad and grandpa roasted the corn and ribs:
We had some homemade tortillas too. I thank God everyday for making me a Navajo:
And while the women (plus dad and grandpa) were hard at work in the kitchen, the boys snoozed:
Grandpa said a prayer in Navajo and blessed Devon with eagle feathers for his birthday:
Devon and Charlie had a sumo wrestling fight with their tamales:
The kiddos ran through the house like crazy:
Once again the girls proved more productive than the boys by working out:
While the boys played video games. Tsk. Tsk.
I had fun with my little nieces and even taught them some dance moves:
On Sunday, I sat in on my stepmom’s primary class. These kids were sharp. They were well versed in Old Testament history and knew where to turn to find all of the scriptures. Little Mormons in training:
This kiddo was recognized by the Bishop for reading the entire Book of Mormon. Wowza: Everything at home was pretty much the same, except that...
Penny got fat:
My parents bought a Mercedes instead of a truck. What the heck? And, my little brother’s voice dropped and he is now taller than me. :( It was an awesome trip home.
Love,
Tashina
