Webster's Scrapbooking Celebration

One of my favorite scrapbook companies, Webster's Pages made this adorable video and if I post something about their video, I can be entered into a drawing to win $500 worth of scrapbooking supplies. What a dream! I love the glittery shoes in the video.

Here is a link to a post where I made a layout using some of their fabulous papers:

I'm in love...

Isn't this the most delicate and beautiful duvet cover you've ever seen? Like drifting away on a cloud. And it's handmade. Out of my price range, but still worthy of admiring.

Not keen on the British flag pillow, but everything else is a dream.
I've fallen off the blogging wagon. Shame on me. I'll work on it.

Love,
Sheenie

Home to the Mile High City

I haven’t been able to motivate myself to blog lately and when I actually want to write, blogger is down for maintenance. Meh. In April, I went home to Denver to visit the fam. Tiffany and Patrick flew in from Texas and Cin’s parents came in from Arizona to celebrate my little brother’s 13th birthday. One of my favorite things about coming home is the soul food. The breakfast of champions: Tamales, green chile, fried potatoes, bacon and eggs.
Grandma and Grandpa hauled up some fresh mutton from the rez:
My dad and grandpa roasted the corn and ribs:
We had some homemade tortillas too. I thank God everyday for making me a Navajo:
And while the women (plus dad and grandpa) were hard at work in the kitchen, the boys snoozed:
Grandpa said a prayer in Navajo and blessed Devon with eagle feathers for his birthday:
Devon and Charlie had a sumo wrestling fight with their tamales:
The kiddos ran through the house like crazy:

Once again the girls proved more productive than the boys by working out:
While the boys played video games. Tsk. Tsk.
I had fun with my little nieces and even taught them some dance moves:

On Sunday, I sat in on my stepmom’s primary class. These kids were sharp. They were well versed in Old Testament history and knew where to turn to find all of the scriptures. Little Mormons in training:
This kiddo was recognized by the Bishop for reading the entire Book of Mormon. Wowza:

Everything at home was pretty much the same, except that...
Penny got fat:
My parents bought a Mercedes instead of a truck. What the heck?
And, my little brother’s voice dropped and he is now taller than me. :(
It was an awesome trip home.

Love,
Tashina

Proof that I went to highschool in the wrong decade...

But that is all going to change on April 30th.

Out of the Mouth of Babes

I was looking through my journal and found some funny things that my little brother said when he was ten years old:

Devon to me: Sheenie, you shouldn't wear that push up bra. You don't want your boobs to go up to your neck.

My stepmom: We're going to a Harvard alumni event at the Brown Palace where Tom Brokaw and Bob Shaffer will be speaking.
Devon: Um, mom. I think you mean Bob SCH-IE-FFER.

Me: Do you want to work out with me?
Devon: No, I don't want to lift weights with some tan chick in a video who thinks she can dance.

My stepmom: Sheenie, do you think that guy is cute?
Me: He's ok, but his arms are a little hairy.
Devon: Why don't you tell him to shave? You know that you're the woman and women have ALL of the power.

Dad: So why don't you like this guy?
Me: I dunno. I'm just not attracted to him.
Devon: What Sheenie means to say is that her hormones aren't raging when she's around him.
Me: That's about right.

My stepmom: Devon, you need to be a little more specific in your prayers.
Devon (while praying): Dear Heavenly Father...please bless my mommy and daddy to do well in this tough economy.

Me: Do you think you'll get married when you grow up?
Devon: Yes.
Me: You're very confident.
Devon: Because I'm sexy.

I can't wait to see my little brother this weekend! Here's a much younger picture of him taken while we were camping:

Why can't every day be like today?

Dining on street tacos at ZTejas. Indulging and buying these charms at the Juicy Couture store:
Yes, I failed with my no shopping ban.:( Tanning in the sun like a rock star at this resort:
Full-service pampering at the Hyatt Regency Gainey Ranch Resort and Spa. The massage therapist gave me an extra 30 minutes free. An hour and a half massage? Score! (Ok. Maybe it helped that the therapist was male. I guess being single does have its benefits!)

And all of these activities with my favorite aunt:
I'm really going to miss her. Thank you Aunt Steff and Uncle Todd for the fabulous massage. Love you!

He nailed it

Today my email box greeted me with a picture of this:
and a note from my dad that said, "Look, Sheenie. It's your dream house and I think it's for sale in North Scottsdale."

Oh those dads. Always spot on. Maybe he had a hunch that last week I bought this:
So that I can make this:
 And this:
and maybe someday fulfill my life-long dream of visiting:
